I called for the Wychbold Masts to be granted protected status. During Business of the House, I highlighted their significant role during World War II, where they were crucial in jamming enemy transmissions and aiding communication with the French Resistance. The longwave transmitters, which celebrated their 90th anniversary last year, played a key part in D-Day operations. I urged Historic England to list the masts, ensuring their historical importance is preserved for future generations. The Leader of the House, Lucy Powell, in response, praised the Masts for their pivotal role in safeguarding Britain during the war.
