Championing Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill

I have proudly supported the transformative Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, which prioritises children’s safety and education. Key measures include free breakfast clubs in primary schools, saving parents £450 per child annually, reducing uniform costs by limiting branded items, and introducing a national register for children not in school.

The Bill also strengthens safeguarding with improved multi-agency arrangements, supports care leavers, and ensures vulnerable children receive the protection they deserve.

Every child deserves the best start in life. This legislation is a major step forward in safeguarding our children and supporting families.

Please see my attached response to yesterday's vote and the Opposition's attempt to halt one of the most significant pieces of safeguarding legislation for over a decade.
